He Loves His Truck

James and his beloved truck

It was purchased used from Serra Chevrolet in 1996. It was a match made in heaven for the 1994 Chevy S-10 and a truck loving southern man. A pick-up is essential equipment for those of us who love home improvement projects and gardening.
In 1996, this truck had about 36,000 thousand miles on it - just getting broken in.
In 2010, the mileage is up to over 225,000 miles. It made many trips over the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina to the coast to see our son and family. It has been loaded with all types of furniture, dirt, firewood, luggage, dogs, and Goodwill donations.

Many attempts have been made to steal this truck from our driveway. During our latest police report we were advised to buy a club and park the truck in the garage. And so the ritual began. It is driven into the garage at night and out in the morning for the commute downtown. No snow and ice has touched the paint this winter. On our cold January mornings it cranks quickly.

Chevrolet no longer manufactures the S-10; so it is all the more precious to us. Last fall we bought 4 new tires and a new spare. The person at Gateway said, "You're buying 5 tires for that truck? The tires are worth more than the truck!" We both laughed. We have history with that truck!
