"Little Armored One"

Number 1

Number 2
The Nine Banded Armadillo

On Monday of this week, my neighborhood received 2 inches of rain in about 1 hour. It was a rogue summertime cloud that did not cover the city - it just flooded certain areas.
James discovered these armadillos while walking Toni. He hurried home to get the camera. We drove back to the first lake in our neighborhood and snapped these photos. Several cars stopped with the occupants asking (1) what the animals were and (2) did he own them?
James and TravelLady have only seen armadillos as road kill. So it was a great surprise to see them alive and running around. They build burrows in the moist soils of streams and creeks. (Did the rain flood their burrows and force them out on the banks of the lake?)
According to my Internet research, they are most common to Texas but have been known to live in all the southeastern states.

The Rifleman

James really likes this image; it was taken by Billy last Saturday in Kentucky. They gathered up all their handguns, rifles, and shotguns and went shooting. A great time was had by all!
