Mayhew Cabin, 1855

Mayhew Cabin is listed as one of the oldest structures in Nebraska.

It may have been used in the 1870's as a station for the Underground Railroad.

Needing a break from driving, we stopped in Nebraska City looking for the Pendleton

Outlet store.   We explored the streets looking for downtown and came upon this cabin.

Note - we also found downtown.

Centennial

Elevation 8074 feet

 

Named Centennial to celebrate the

100th anniversary of the 

Declaration of Independence.

 

Has been a mining town and a railroad town.

The railroad cut trees to make railroad ties.

This yellow structure houses a free museum.

It features old tools, farming equipment, fire equipment.

 

We are waiting for the guys to look at all the old stuff.  (junk)

Pine Bluffs

Pine Bluffs, Wyoming is on the border with western Nebraska.

Elevation 5049 feet

An invitation to climb the steps for a 10 minute hike to the  archeology site;

TravelLady did not have the breath to climb or stroll but

My breathing became easier after a few days!

Ahhhh....vacation

How nice to see a vacation face!

No worry about patients, helicopters, schedules.

No worry about insurance, authorizations, dates, deadlines.

This vacation was a restful one for James and TravelLady.....
